JOSEPH D. FRANK was a business reporter in Florida covering a complex Chapter 11 case when he decided to go to law school to become a bankruptcy lawyer. In 1993, he graduated with honors from the University of Chicago Law School and since then has gained a reputation as a skilled bankruptcy negotiator and litigator. He regularly represents financial institutions, corporations, trustees, investors, debtors and individual creditors in Chapter 11 bankruptcies and related transactions and litigation. Mr. Frank has served as lead counsel to creditor committees in many bankruptcies and often represents asbestos claimant committees in highly contentious bankruptcies resolving corporate asbestos liability. He also represents many legacy asbestos personal injury trusts. He regularly writes and lectures on bankruptcy issues and Chapter 11 of the Bankruptcy Code, including presentations at many conferences across the United States. Mr. Frank also regularly represents large U.S. companies in bankruptcy matters. His clients include PepsiCo, Experian Corp., Western Union North America, Walgreens and The University of Chicago. He is frequently retained as special litigation counsel by creditor committees and bankruptcy trustees and has tried cases in bankruptcy courts in Chicago, Delaware and New York. Mr. Frank was admitted to the Illinois bar in 1993. He is a member of the Federal Trial Bar and is admitted to practice before the United States District Court for the Northern District of Illinois and the Third, Seventh and Ninth Circuit Courts of Appeal and the United States Supreme Court.
