Tyler Cowan is a Managing Director in the Restructuring Group at Lazard and is based in Lazard’s Chicago office. Since joining Lazard in 2003, Tyler has been involved in a variety of restructuring, merger and acquisition, and corporate finance assignments for clients from a wide range of industries.

Representative restructuring transactions include advising: Atlas Iron on its Australian Scheme of Arrangement, Blackboard on its out-of-court recapitalization, certain bondholders in the restructuring of Boart Longyear, Calwest on its out-of-court restructuring, CDW with respect to secured lender negotiations, Cengage Learning on its chapter 11, Chassix on its chapter 11, Claire’s Stores on its chapter 11, Dex Media (formerly R.H. Donnelley) on its chapter 11, the TCEH Unsecured Creditors’ Committee in the chapter 11 of Energy Future Holdings, FirstEnergy Solutions on its chapter 11, Forever 21 on its chapter 11, The Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company on its Chapter 11, the secured lenders in the chapter 11 of Hostess, Dynegy on the chapter 11 of its subsidiary Illinois Power Generating Company, J.Crew on its out-of-court restructuring, Local Insight Media on its chapter 11, Longview Power and its subsidiary Mepco on their chapter 11s, Lufthansa on the out-of-court restructuring of its airline catering subsidiary LSG SkyChefs, Neiman Marcus on a comprehensive liability management transaction, Peabody Energy on its chapter 11, Peabody Energy on the chapter 11 of its former subsidiary Patriot Coal, Remington Outdoor Company on its chapter 11, the first lien noteholders in the chapter 11 of Tops Friendly Markets, USEC on its chapter 11, the first lien lenders in the chapter 11 of Walter Energy, Westgate Resorts on its out-of-court restructuring, and Westmoreland Resource Partners on its chapter 11, among others. Concurrent with his various restructuring engagements, Tyler has raised a substantial amount of capital for his clients, including debtor-in-possession, exit and rescue financing.

Tyler graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in industrial engineering from Northwestern University.
