Description

This one-hour presentation will describe current conditions in the government contracting industry and the particular negative impact on mid-tier government contractors. The expert speakers have spent much of their careers working with and for government contractors in the Washington, DC marketplace and will discuss the fallout from industry changes and effective strategies to avoid many common pitfalls. Specific proposals and issues to be addressed include:

  • Dynamics of the mid–tier squeeze
  • Restructuring concerns independent of usual creditor's rights issues
  • Impact of a declining business cycle – government contracting boom and bust
  • Common management reactions both good and bad

Speakers

Peter Chadwick (Moderator)

Mr. Chadwick has significant operating and advisory experience, including improving underperforming businesses and advising debtors and creditors in complex restructuring matters. He has served as Chief Restructuring Officer, Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, Chief Financial Officer, and Advisor to companies in a variety of industries. Mr. Chadwick has extensive experience in leading restructurings in manufacturing, production and construction, including renegotiating contracts with OEMs and creditors, effectuating sale transactions, and preparing business plans based upon his manufacturing rationalization studies, operational restructuring plans and global sourcing and distribution analyses. Mr. Chadwick has an B.A. from Penn State University and a M.B.A. from Babson College.

Haywood Miller

Mr. Miller's practice focuses on consulting with debtors and creditors on operational and financial restructuring issues. He spent much of his career as general counsel and executive with companies in the infrastructure and government contracting industries as well as with a business development company with investments in many industries. Mr. Miller has an A.B. in Government from Harvard University and a J.D./M.B.A. from the University of Maryland.

Tim concentrates his practice in the area of government contracts, representing businesses nationwide and abroad. He counsels clients in all facets of government contract law, including bid protests, contract claims and litigation. He has extensive experience in matters involving bidding strategies, claims resolution, small business issues, defective pricing, suspension and debarment and the Procurement Integrity Act. He has also served as a contract negotiator for the Central Intelligence Agency. He earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and his B.A. from University of Michigan.
