Btzalel Hirschhorn is the head of the Bankruptcy and Restructuring Practice Group at Shiryak, Bowman, Anderson, Gill and Kadochnikov LLP. In this capacity, Btzalel counsels secured and unsecured creditors, landlords, lessees, Debtors in Possession, and other constituencies through complex bankruptcy and restructuring matters. He has also litigated claim objections, avoidance actions, contested 2004 Examinations, stay violations, and valuation hearings. Btzalel is also a Certified Mediator for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York Bankruptcy Courts.

His practice additionally encompasses real estate litigation in state courts throughout New York where he represents borrowers in foreclosures, parties in real estate ownership disputes, quiet title actions, partition actions, deed fraud disputes, fraudulent conveyances, and adverse possession actions.

Btzalel is admitted to practice in all New York State Courts as well as in the United States District Courts for the Eastern, Southern and Northern Districts of New York. He represents creditors in contested bankruptcy matters throughout the United States including a recently argued case in front of the Fifth Circuit Court of Appeals which garnered national attention on the applicability of Section 523(a) to the newly enacted Subchapter V.

Btzalel has also served as a volunteer judge for the Duberstein Bankruptcy Moot Court Competition, the ABA’s National Appellate Advocacy Competition, and the New York State Mock Trial Tournament. Btzalel previously served as editor the American Bankruptcy Institute’s Legislation Committee and has written numerous articles for various ABI periodicals.
