Erin Diers is a partner in Hughes Hubbard & Reed’s Corporate Reorganization department, where she focuses on bankruptcy, restructuring and commercial litigation.

Erin’s diverse practice includes the representation of debtors and creditors in a wide range of matters, including in and out-of-court restructurings, debtor-in-possession financing, and bankruptcy litigation. Erin also provides bankruptcy advice in connection with financing transactions. Erin maintains an active pro bono practice, representing clients in prisoners’ rights, immigration, and family law cases.

Erin was recognized in 2022 as an ABI “40 Under 40” honoree and as an “Outstanding Young Restructuring Lawyer” by Turnarounds & Workouts. She also has been recognized as a “Rising Star” by New York Super Lawyers for seven consecutive years, and was recommended in The Legal 500 United States in the area of Finance – Restructuring (including Bankruptcy): Corporate in 2021-2023. Erin frequently speaks on relevant bankruptcy topics, including regarding the intersection of mass torts and chapter 11. Erin has published articles in such periodicals as Airline Economics, the ABI Journal and the New York Law Journal.

Erin is a devoted mentor to young women at her firm, and an active participant in groups that focus on the connection, development and promotion of women in the insolvency industry. She co-chairs her firm’s Women’s Roundtable, she is a member of her firm’s Mentoring Task Force, a board member of the New York Chapter of the International Women’s Insolvency & Restructuring Confederation (IWIRC), and a member of the International Aviation Women’s Association. Ms. Diers received her undergraduate degree magna cum laude from American University and her J.D. from Columbia Law School.

Selected Recent Matters

· In re Barretts Minerals Inc.: Counsel to Minerals Technologies Inc. in connection with the Chapter 11 cases of its affiliates to address historic talc-related liabilities.

· In re Imerys Talc America Inc.: Counsel to Imerys S.A., a French mining company, in connection with the Chapter 11 bankruptcy of certain of its U.S. talc mining subsidiaries.

· In re Genesis Global Holdco: Counsel to Gemini Trust Company as agent to over 220,000 users that lent more than $1 billion to Genesis.

· In re Republic Airways Holdings Inc.: Debtor’s counsel for regional airline in connection with its $3.5 billion Chapter 11 restructuring, involving the restructuring of complex debt and lease arrangements relating to more than 90 aircraft, the return or other disposition of more than 130 aircraft, and the resolution of substantial aircraft financing claims.
