Denise Lorenzo has over 20 years of financial and operational experience. She has provided interim management, investigative and litigation services across a wide range of industries including financial services, homebuilding, manufacturing, oil and gas, mining, distribution, infrastructure, telecommunications, mortuary services and specialty chemicals. Her clients’ revenues have ranged from $150 million to $3.2 billion.
Professional Experience
Denise has particular expertise in advising management on how to organize resources and activities to efficiently plan, coordinate, and manage the Chapter 11 process and effectively communicate with critical stakeholders. Denise also assists management in improving operations, assessing financial reporting systems and internal controls, reducing costs and restructuring to rehabilitate the business.
She has extensive experience leading activities related to cash management and cash flow forecasting; operating treasury systems; maintaining banking relationships; performing liquidation analysis; and overseeing wind-downs.
Most recently, Denise has been advising Avaya, a $3.2 billion global technology company, in its successful restructuring. Denise served as associate director of finance for Cetera Financial Group during its restructuring. Other recent projects include assignments in the energy sector, such as advising Sabine Oil and Gas and Milagro Exploration, as well as advising a global logistics company.
Throughout the complex, six-year restructuring of homebuilder TOUSA, Denise led litigation support initiatives involving matters of fraudulent conveyance and preference actions, in addition to driving a variety of day-to-day restructuring and operational work streams.
In the Chapter 11 proceeding of bottled water company Le-Nature’s, Denise began recreating the company’s cash activity for the preceding five year period, physically safeguarded and managed the debtor’s assets and assisted in the operation of the business. Other notable public assignments include the Loewen Group, ICG Communications, Metromedia Fiber Networks, Solutia and Blue Bird.
Prior to joining Zolfo Cooper, Denise was a controller for a material handling equipment manufacturer.
Denise earned a B.B.A from Hofstra University. She is a Certified Insolvency and Restructuring Advisor and a board member of the Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Advisors.
